Chiefs Acquire Josh Uche from Patriots

The Kansas City Chiefs have acquired pass rusher Josh Uche from the New England Patriots, strengthening their defensive lineup ahead of the upcoming NFL games.

Chiefs Acquire Josh Uche from Patriots

The Kansas City Chiefs acquired Josh Uche, pass rusher from the New England Patriots, in a trade for a sixth-round selection in the 2026 draft. This acquisition aims to bolster the Chiefs' defense in a key position. Uche, selected by the Patriots in the second round of 2020, has 20.5 sacks in five seasons, including two in the first seven games of the current season.

Josh Uche will fill the roster spot left by Jody Fortson, tight end who will move to the injured reserve list due to a knee injury. With the imminent return of Charles Omenihu, who is recovering from an injury, the pressure on the quarterback is expected to continue improving for the Kansas City team.

This signing marks the second significant move for the Chiefs in less than a week. Last week, they sent a conditional fifth-round selection to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for DeAndre Hopkins, who contributed two receptions in Sunday’s 27-20 victory over the Raiders.

Josh Uche's standout performance was reflected in his best season in 2022, where he recorded 11.5 sacks and forced two fumbles in 15 games. Uche joins a defensive group led by George Karlaftis, Mike Danna, and Felix Anudike-Uzomah, with defensive tackle Chris Jones providing pressure in the middle of the defensive line.
